I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025) | Official Movie Review

Hola What’s Hot Fam,

Let’s slash into my I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025) movie review. I saw it on discount Tuesday at AMC (shoutout to $8 movies!) and let me just say—I was expecting basic slasher vibes, but this one had me lowkey on the edge of my seat. Let’s get into it.

Familiar Faces

First off, yes—this reboot brings back some of the OGs. Julie, Ray (aka Freddie Prinze Jr., Mr. Scooby-Doo himself), and even Brandy pop up. That was smart. It gave us that nostalgic pull while still letting the new cast do their thing. And if you know anything about reboots, you know not all of them get that balance right. But this one? It worked.

Suspense

I was honestly surprised by how much tension the movie delivered. There’s one scene with Danica hiding under a parade float that had me clutching my popcorn. The way they paced the creepy moments, built the suspense, and still gave us some emotional beats? I wasn’t expecting that. It kept the energy high without going full campy.

Plot Twist

Okay, spoiler alert if you haven’t seen it yet—there were two killers. I kind of called it, but the movie still managed to throw me off just enough. I guessed the killer was someone from the old crew, and I even had my eye on Stevie at one point, but the way they staged things made me second-guess myself. Turns out, it was Stevie and Ray. So, technically, I was right but also wrong? Either way, it was a good movie, even if it did start feeling a little similar to the Scream franchise.

Characters Who Had Me Cheering and Side-eyeing

Krypto the dog might’ve been the star of Superman, but here, it was all about Danica and Teddy. Their dynamic gave the movie some umph, so I was a little mad when Teddy didn’t make it. His death felt a little avoidable (like bruh, how didn’t you see that figure wasn’t just a statue?!), but also he was a drunk, so anything’s possible.

On the other hand, shoutout to the pastor and Stevie’s co-worker for being suspicious AF and throwing me off the trail of the real killers.

Phony Moments

Let’s be real. Danica would’ve been dead after getting shot and falling off that boat. Stevie, may have realistically survived, but where did she swim to? They were in the middle of the ocean. This was all a little bit of a reach to me.

And why do killers in these movies always take their time with the main characters, like it’s a TED Talk before the kill? Just stab and go!

Final Rating: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 out of 5 Flames

Look, I went in with low expectations, and they honestly did their thing. The suspense hit, the twist kept me guessing, and the callbacks made me smile. If you’re into slashers and love a little nostalgia, this one’s worth the watch.
